Today the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) E-cigarette Notification Team issued a letter to producers.
Following a review of income versus costs, the MHRA have calculated that the income from the initial notification fee paid by producers will be sufficient to cover the costs of running the notification scheme for 2017/18.
What does this mean for producers?
The £150 notification fee will cover both the initial processing, publishing and checking for completeness of a new notification and also the ongoing costs of updating notifications and safety surveillance through the Yellow Card scheme for 2017/18.
Producers will not be charged the annual fee of £60 for each notification, or a substantial modification fee for 2017/18.
They will review the need to charge an annual fee for 2018/19 in the light of the numbers of products and costs and income at that time.
