The aim of the CEN (European Committee for Standardization) Technical Committee 437 is to develop European Standards dealing with mechanical, thermal, electrical and chemical safety aspects for e-cigarettes and e-liquids, as well as analytical methods providing a basis for determination and quantification of all chemical components in the aerosol emissions.
Last week Nerudia attended the 4th plenary meeting of CEN / TC 437 on electronic cigarettes and e-liquids. The Technical Committee was provided with updates on the work being undertaken by the following working groups:
- Working Group 1, Terminology and definitions. Convenor Mr Andrea Puglisi
- Working Group 2, Requirements and test methods for electronic cigarette devices. Convenor, Mr Wolfgang Trinkies
- Working Group 3, Requirements and test methods for emissions. Convenor, Mr Tom Pruen
- Working Group 4, Requirements and test methods for emissions. Convenor Prof. Riccardo Polosa
Nerudia continue to support the vital work of this Technical Committee, as well as the work of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 126 Sub-committee 3 on Vape and vapour products.
We are currently taking part in the ring trial validating the analytical methods for the determination of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine and nicotine in e-liquids, and will provide a further update on this when we can.
