The Great American Smokeout

Today, November 16th, is The Great American Smokeout, an annual event run by the American Cancer Society to encourage smokers across the nation to quit.

Although smoking rates in the US are dropping, around 36.5 million Americans still smoke cigarettes. Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the world, and by quitting, even for one day, smokers can take an important step towards a healthier life.
